Janie Murrell Allen

Funeral Services Celebrating the Life of Mrs. Janie Murrell Allen, 75, of Monroe, LA, will be 10:00 AM Friday, March 4, 2022, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Monroe, with Rev. Randy Murrell officiating. Interment will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery in Monroe.

Mrs. Allen was born January 11, 1947 and went to be with her Lord and Savior on February 28, 2022. Janie was happiest when surrounded by her family and friends. She enjoyed floral design and event planning in her spare time. Janie worked for 20 years at the ULM Computing Center before retiring in 1998. After retirement, she enjoyed volunteering at the Northeast Louisiana Food Bank. Through her recent illness, she found strength in her faith in Jesus.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Opal Bernice Murrell; and brothers, Wayne Murrell and Hefton Murrell.

Survivors include her husband of 49 years, Curtis “Lee” Allen; two sisters, Virginia Watkins and husband Mike, Edwina Doss and husband Randy; brother, Philip Murrell and wife Tonia; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and many special friends.

Pallbearers will be Joey Edwards, Jeff Edwards, Brennon Comish, Les Davis, Jeff Robinson, Shannon Comish, and Chris Cain. Honorary Pallbearers will be Philip Murrell, Randy Doss, Michael Watkins, Brent Murrell, and Justin Murrell.

Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society, St Jude Children’s Research Hospital, or Louisiana Baptist Children’s Home.

Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM Thursday, March 3, 2022, at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Monroe.
