Funeral services for James W. Strickland, (84), of Monroe, will be held at 10:00 AM Monday, June 21, 2010 in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe with Rev. Jimmie D. Pyles officiating. Interment will follow in Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mr. Strickland was a Navy Veteran and a retired contractor. He was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Strickland and his daughter, Lynn Strickland Gorman.
Survivors include one son, Steve Jones and wife Debbie; four grandchildren, Sandy Cribbs, Jennifer Wheelis and husband Lee, Scott Jones, and Jared Jones; four great grandchildren, Connor Wheelis, Caden Cribbs, Luke Wheelis, and Jeff Gorman all of West Monroe; great grandson, Jace Gorman and his mother Randi Matuszck all of Texas; mother-in-law, Mrs. Edna West of Crossett, AR; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Scott Jones, Jarod Jones, Jace Gorman, and Billy Wayne Ragus.
Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Sunday, June 20, 2010 at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe.
Memorials may be made to Memorial United Methodist Church or to the Parkinson Association.
