Funeral Mass for Mr. James W. “Sonny” Hopfinger, 82, of Calhoun, LA will be held at 11:00 A.M., Friday, December 23, 2016 at St. Paschal Catholic Church in West Monroe, LA with Fr. Frank Coens officiating. Interment will follow at St. Paschal Catholic Church Cemetery in West Monroe, LA under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe, LA.
Mr. Hopfinger was born August 8, 1934 in Fulton County, GA, and passed away December 20, 2016 at his home in Calhoun. He served in the United States Navy as a Machinist Mate during the Korean War. He was a member of St. Paschal Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus and NAPIM. Mr. Hopfinger spent 40 years in the printing business, working for Croda International. He had an interest in old cars, woodworking and loved spending time with his family and his church family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lee and Nellie Hopfinger; grandson, Timothy Hayden; and sisters, Anne L. Jackson and Mary Lee Lawrence.
Survivors include his wife, Jerrene B. Hopfinger; daughter, Lydia Anne Hopfinger; sons, Daniel Lee Hopfinger and wife Shona, and John Patrick “Butch” Hopfinger; grandchildren, Bobby Wayne Hayden, Heather Harris and husband Robbie, Heath Hopfinger and wife Laynie, Jacob Hopfinger and John Patrick “J.P.” Hopfinger, Jr.; two great grandchildren on the way; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Heath Hopfinger, Jacob Hopfinger, Steve Bode, Tommy Giovingo, Vincent Giovingo and Webb Crecink.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M., Thursday, December 22, 2016 with a Rosary at 6:00 P.M., at Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe, LA.
Memorials may be made to St. Vincent DePaul or the Monroe Soup Kitchen.
