Funeral services for Mr. James W. McMorris, 81, of Monroe, will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday, September 25, 2008, at Lakeshore Baptist Church with Rev. William Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Mulhearn Memorial Park Mausoleum under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe.

Mr. McMorris passed away Tuesday, September 23, 2008, at St. Francis Medical Center. He was a deacon and charter member of Lakeshore Baptist Church, and a U. S. Navy veteran of WWII. He was a brick mason and carpenter working in Monroe for many years. Mr. McMorris was in masonry contracting business with his brother until 1988 and then he worked with Stebbins Engineering and Manufacturing until his retirement in 1991. Master carpenter and wood worker, he was happiest in his shop crafting something for his friends and family. He loved teaching Sunday school.

Survivors include his wife of fifty-seven years, Lena McMorris; two sons, Gary McMorris and wife Pat of Farmerville, LA, and Mike McMorris and wife Rhonda of Monroe, LA; one daughter, Debbie Pier of Shreveport, LA; five grandchildren, Shane and wife Lana, Mandy and husband Chuck, Jeremy and wife Tracy, Heath, and Devin; three great-grandchildren, Ryan, Brett, and Ella Kate; brothers, Lee Wayne, Paul, and Larry McMorris.

Pallbearers will be Bill Olin, Keith Evan, Tom Cathey, Buddy Cork, Gene Ford, Scotty Barnes, and Glen Bennett.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe.
