Private graveside services for James Roy Fuller Jr., 83, of Monroe, LA, will be held at Hamilton Cemetery in Dubach, LA. Reverend Nat Barnett will be officiating under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Monroe, LA. Mr. Fuller was born September 20, 1937 and passed away December 24, 2020. James grew up in Baton Rouge, LA where he graduated from Baton Rouge Highschool and attended LSU. James was a proud veteran who served his country in the army during his young adult life. After his service, he moved to Monroe where he began his career as a successful businessman in the areas of construction, rental properties, as well as the food industry. He especially enjoyed his many years as a franchisee of Wendy’s Hamburgers and Newk’s Eatery. He was a lifetime member of the Monroe Rotary Club and over the years belonged to many local service organizations including the Scottish Rite, Shriners, and the Masons. James was an avid hunter and outdoorsmen; he cherished his years as a member of Kellogg Hunting Club on Davis Island and served the club as a member of the board of directors. Some of his fondest memories included spending time with his friends and family at Davis Island, and he loved to tell stories about his hunting experiences. James also enjoyed spending time on the Ouachita River and would often entertain friends on his houseboat, the Miss Wendy. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Roy and Lucille Fuller. Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Irene Wylie Fuller; daughter, Sylvia Neuner; son, Jimmy Fuller and wife Sharon; daughter, Rebecca Fuller-Verbois and husband Jeff; granddaughters, Luisa, Sophia, and Zita Neuner and Rebekah Fuller; step-grandson, Brenden Verbois; Sister, Judith Najolia and husband Richard.
