Funeral Services for James Roger Rutledge, 75, of West Monroe, La will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, October 11, 2016 at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church with Bro. Herman Lenard officiating. Interment will follow at Rutledge Cemetery under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe.
James Roger Rutledge left this earth on October 8, 2016 to join his beloved wife, Mary Lou Rutledge and his parents Mattie Lee and Alfred Rutledge in heaven. He lived his life in West Monroe, Louisiana raising cattle and managing timber, and he owned the local Four Way Grocery Store. Roger enjoyed spending time outdoors no matter if he was on his tractor or sitting on the front porch looking at the Raggeds Mountains at his home in Colorado.
Survivors include his three loving children: Denise Rutledge, Brenda Rutledge Hilburn and husband Todd Hilburn, Wayne Rutledge and wife Kathy Lee Rutledge who are saddened by the loss of their dad but rejoice that their parents are once again together. His four grandchildren, Laura Beth Southern, Ashlyn Elizabeth Hilburn, Caleb Wayne Rutledge and Carley Anne Rutledge, "added a smile..." to his face and a twinkle to his crystal, blue eyes. He is also survived by his sister Gail Rutledge Wheelis and spouse David Wheelis; and loved by numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Terry Sims, Lance Sims, Gabe Rutledge, Zach Rutledge, Darrell Arrant, Jack Rutledge, Mike Wheelis and David Martin. Honorary Pallbearers will be Larry Rutledge, Harvey Arrant, Bennie Gewin, Reggie Owens, Danny Eubanks, Gerald Arrant, Teddy May and his longtime friend who has gone ahead of him, O.K. (Jr.) McCurdy.
Visitation will be held from 5:00PM until 8:00PM Monday, October 10, 2016 at Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe.
