James was born on November 8, 1968, in Slidell, LA, and passed from this life on March 10, 2021, in Monroe, LA. He worked for Western Rivers Towing as a Riverboat Captain and was a member of Forsythe Church of Christ. James was known as a generous soul, always making others laugh, and having a contagious smile. Those around him couldn’t help but smile back in return. He loved working on the river, and thoroughly enjoyed loud music and race cars, but his greatest love was the love he had for his family.
James is preceded in death by his father, Gus Pete Salinas, Jr.; and his father-in-law, James Earl “Sonny” Martin.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Kayla Martin Salinas; sons, Cameron Heath Salinas, Dustin Blaine Salinas and fiancé, Paige Trahan, and John David McBride; sisters, Misty Salinas Stokes, and Brandy Salinas Meredith and husband, Steven; mother, Irse “Janie” Smith Salinas; stepsons, Michael Landon Greene, and Koven Minor and wife, Amanda; stepdaughters, Katie Dianne Minor, and EverRose Minor; mother-in-law, Mary Charlene Martin; nieces and nephews, Steven “T-Bo” Meredith, Baylea Meredith, Mallory Meredith, Brittany Stokes, Pacey Bradberry, and Skylar Bradberry; four grandchildren and numerous friends and boat buddies; and his beloved pets “his girls”, Buffie, and Fifi.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Jeremy Perkins, Patrick Crosby, D.J. Freeman, Brian Shelton, Toby Hearndon, and all of his racing enthusiasts.
James’ casket will be handcrafted by Kayla’s family, so a special thank you to the Martin family for the craftmanship on this “Timeless Piece”.
