“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” 2 Timothy 4:7
With heavy hearts, but unwavering faith, we announce that our beloved father, Jimmy Morris, entered his heavenly home on April 2, 2025 at the age of 83, after a courageous battle with acute leukemia. While we mourn his passing, we rejoice in knowing he is now at peace in the presence of his Savior, free from pain and suffering.
Born on November 20, 1941 in Oak Grove, Louisiana, he lived a life defined by faith, hard work, and a deep love for his family and friends. He was married to the love of his life Janette Alexander Morris for 59 years. They were always together and on the move. Janette had the distinction of being the only one who could keep him straight. He dedicated many years of service as a United States Postmaster in Mangham, LA ensuring that his community stayed connected through his diligent and faithful work. After retirement his passion for antique collectibles led him to begin his second career as a vintage sign dealer. He traveled the United States collecting signs and attending sign shows where he developed lasting friendships. He was well known and loved in Canton, Texas where he maintained a booth for over 30 years. He also began a church ministry at the Canton Flea Market where he witnessed to countless other vendors and employees.
But above all, he was a man of God. His faith guided him through life’s trials and triumphs and he was a steadfast example of kindness, integrity and humility. He was a devoted member of Highland Baptist Church, where he found joy in worship, fellowship and serving others. He never missed an opportunity to share his faith and his life was a testament to God’s grace and love.
His greatest treasure was his family. He was a loving husband, devoted father, proud grandfather and great-grandfather and cherished brother and friend. He taught us the value of hard work, the importance of faith and the joy of simple moments spent together. Even in his battle with Leukemia, he remained strong in spirit, trusting in God’s plan and comforting those around him with his wisdom and love.
He is preceded in death by his parents Beatrice Reynolds Morris and Harvey L. Morris; his loving wife Janette Alexander Morris and grandson Austin Morris, his brother H. L. Morris and sister Pat Winsett.
He is survived by his children, James Morris (Julie), Greg Morris (Aimee), Brian Morris (Tami) and Tonya Matthews (John); his grand-children Kristin Chandler, Zach Morris (Meagan), Lauren Morris, Alex Matthews, Brooke Morris, Megan Copier, Abby Matthews, Landon Morris and Andrew Matthews; great grandchildren Olivia Chandler, Jaclyn Morris, Whitt Morris, Virginia Morris, Violet Morris, Montana Copier and Jaxson Morris; sister Jerry Sims and brother Kermit Morris (Henrietta). Our hearts are heavy, but we take comfort in knowing he has received his eternal reward.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Highland Baptist Church or Gideons International. He was passionate about sharing the gospel any way he could. One way he did that was through a commercial on KTVE, NBC Channel 10. We would like to keep this commercial going as long as possible. If you are interested in donating to this cause, please send your donation to KTVE, NBC 10, 200 Civilian Road West, Monroe, LA 71292, Attention Tammy Esswein. Please put “Jimmy Morris” in the memo line.
We will miss him every day but hold onto God’s promise that we will see him again. Until then, we find peace in knowing that he is home and hearing the word; “Well done, good and faithful servant” Matthew 25:23.
As he loved to always say, “God wins.”
Pallbearers are Zach Morris, Alex Matthews, Andrew Matthews, Landon Morris, Jarrott Rolfe, Johnny Reynolds, Jay Sims and Tom Sims.

Family and friends are invited to join us at Trenton Bend Clubhouse, 2411 Trenton Street, West Monroe, LA after the graveside service.
