Graveside services for Mr. James H. Rainwater, 81,of Sterlington, LA, will be 2 PM Monday, January 31, 2011 at Greer Cemetery in Rayville, LA, with Rev. Roger Johnson officiating under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home Sterlington Rd. Monroe.
Mr. Rainwater was a member of First Baptist Church Sterlington, was a United States Navy Veteran of the Korean War and served as Mayor of Sterlington for 12 years. He also was principal at A.L. Smith Elementary and later went to Sterlington High School from which he retired. Mr. Rainwater dearly loved his family and friends and he will be missed immensely. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. Mr. Rainwater was preceded in death by his wife Eula Medlin Rainwater.
He is survived by his sons Art Rainwater and wife Cheryl and Allen Rainwater, grandchildren, Betsy, Bobby, Bryan, Matthew, Annie and Sarah, great grandchild, Madison, and brother, LeRohn Rainwater.
Grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.
Visitation will be from 4:30 - 8 PM Sunday at the Mulhearn Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to St Jude’s Children Research Hospital.
