James Edward Smith, Sr.

Funeral Services for Mr. James E. Smith, Sr., 80, of Bastrop, LA, will be 3:00 PM Tuesday, September 29, 2020, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe, with Rev. Randy Russell officiating. Interment will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery in Monroe, LA.

Mr. Smith was born January 20, 1940 and passed away on September 26, 2020. He was a veteran who served in the United States Marine Corps. Mr. Smith owned and operated Smith Upholstery for more than 45 years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Mr. Smith attended First United Pentecostal Church of Hamburg, AR.

He is preceded in death by parents, Robert and Coriene Smith; and sister, Vera Kelso.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Isabelle Johns Smith; daughter, Connie Rash (Dewayne) of Monticello, AR; son, James E. Smith, Jr (Cynthia) of Calhoun, LA; six grandchildren, Chelsea Acklen (James) of Pleasant Hill, MO, Lincey Waite (Devon) of Little Rock, AR, Meagan Lorraine Clark of Monroe, Matthew Brister (Rae) of Dubach, LA, Marsha Hudson of Calhoun, LA, and Trent Rogers of Denver, CO; six great-grandchildren; brother, R C Smith (Charlotte) of West Monroe, LA; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many special friends.

Pallbearers will be Jonathan Crowe, Matthew Brister, Braxton Brister, David Duchene, Samuel Peralta, and Chris Korjan.

Visitation will be from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM Tuesday, September 29, 2020, at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe.
