Memorial Services Celebrating the Life of James Dennis “Jim” Morgan, 78, of Calhoun, LA will be held at 5:00 P.M. Thursday, April 22, 2021 in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home West Monroe, LA with Rev. Neil Everett, and Rev. Waylon McCormick officiating.
Mr. Morgan was born in Milledgeville, GA on June 28, 1942 and passed away in Monroe, LA on April 17, 2021. He graduated from Baldwin High School and Georgia Military College in Milledgeville, GA. He moved to Monroe, LA 50 years ago and while employed with “Miss Elaine.” He later went to work as a Real Estate Salesman with Holly Realty and then moved to Coldwell Banker Group I Realty, where he worked for 23 years before his retirement. Jim was a Master Mason with the Benevolent Lodge #3 of Milledgeville, GA and worked with the Barak Shiners, taking children to the Shriners Hospital in Shreveport, LA. Jim was a member of the Hardwick Baptist Church in Milledgeville, GA. He was an avid outdoorsman, loving to hunt and fish. Jim is preceded in death by his parents, Jessie James and Marie Roberson Morgan; along with his brother-in-law, Jesse Wall.
Survivors include his wife of 26 years, Elsie Morgan; son, Clay Morgan and wife, Katie of Las Vegas, NV; 2 sisters, Carolyn Smith and husband, Rev. George Smith of Hodgensville, KY and Chris Wall of Milledgeville, GA; 3 nephews and 1 niece; stepchildren, Sherri Johnston and husband, Sam, and Billy Dewayne Clem, of Calhoun, LA; 4 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 P.M. until Service Time on Thursday.
Memorials may be made to the Shriner Hospital in Shreveport, LA or to the First Baptist Church of Calhoun, LA
The family would like to give a special thank you to Dr. Barry Weinberger, his Oncologist, the staff of Louisiana Hospice and Palliative Care, especially Amy Thornton, and to Dr. Ramlad of St. Francis along with the many doctors and nurses who attended to Jim over the year.
