Memorial services for James Clifton “Skippy” Portman, Sr., 82, of Monroe, will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, April 12, 2019, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Monroe, with Rev. Charles Dupree officiating. Visitation will be from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM Friday at the funeral home.
Mr. Portman was born June 14, 1936, in Monroe, LA, and passed away Tuesday, April 9, 2019, at St. Francis Medical Center. He started with First National Bank in Monroe and was in the banking business for over 40 years. His banking career spanned from Longview, TX and back to Monroe. Mr. Portman was a 1954 graduate of Neville High School and a star running back in football. He was an avid LSU and Texas Rangers fan.
Mr. Portman was preceded in death by his parents, Clifton and Gladys Marie Foreman Portman.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Wanda W. Portman; two sons, Kevin Portman and wife Jeannine of Longview, TX, and Skip Portman, Jr. and wife Reita of Monroe; and daughter, Tina Koen of Dallas, TX.
Memorials may be made to the Ouachita Parish Animal Shelter.
