James Charles BennettGraveside services for James Charles Bennett, 89, of Cotton Valley, Louisiana, will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, February 2, 2015, at Hall Cemetery in Rayville, Louisiana, with Reverend Warren Eckhardt officiating. Interment will follow at Hall Cemetery under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe. James C. Bennett, born September 23, 1925, earned his heroic wings and went home to God on January 28, 2015, at the age of 89.At the age of 18 he proudly enlisted to serve his country in WWII with the U.S. Army. During his years of service he earned numerous awards and became one of the elite and highly respected P.O.W.’s after being captured at the Battle of the Bulge. After his release, he also served in the Navy and Air Force, completing his service, he met and married the love of his life, Holly Bennett, in February of 1954. Together, they began their journey of creating a lifetime legacy through their children. A hardworking, no nonsense man, James made sure that his children learned the true values of hard work and family. All of his children were taught at an early age how to do everything from build a house, build an engine, plow the fields and take care of the animals. James and Holly, having always called Louisiana their home, eventually made Cotton Valley their paradise, where James had all of the land he needed to farm and plow.James is preceded in death by his parents Yeager and Lillian Bennett and sister Rachel Lewis. He is survived by his wife, Holly Bennett, his brother, Everett (Bea) Bennett, 7 children, Vernon Bennett, Toni (Ron) Girlinghouse, Jimmy (Lelia) Bennett, Patrick Bennett, Everett (Vicki) Bennett, Joey (Kim) Bennett, and Audrey (Roger) McRae. His 12 grandchildren, Angela, (Ray) Amy, Shane, (Bridgette), Brandy, Jared, Justin, Drew, Abble, Helen, Amelia, Travis, Adelle and 11 great-grandchildren, Jeff, Destiny, Jacob, Grace, Thomas, Navaeh, Trinity, Tristan, Tailor, Xavier, and Sylvia.Visitation will be from 12:00 PM until 1:00 PM, Monday, February 2, 2015 at Mulhearn Funeral Home Chapel.Online Registry/Condolences: www.mulhearnfuneralhome.comMulhearn Funeral HomeSterlington RoadMonroe, LA
