Memorial Service celebrating the life of Mr. James C. (JC) Cunningham, Jr., 92, of Monroe, LA will be held at 11:00 AM Monday March 21, 2022, at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Monroe, LA with Rev. R. B. Moore officiating. His remains will be placed in St. Paul’s Columbarium.
Visitation will be from 10 AM until service time at St. Paul’s.
JC passed away on March 17, 2022, at St. Joseph Nursing Home in Monroe.
Born and raised in Russellville, Alabama, JC served his country in the Army in the Korean War after which he returned home and obtained a Business degree at the University of Alabama. In 1959, he married Ellen Wilson and they lived in Birmingham, AL until 1968 when JC moved to Monroe to open the Mid-South Regional Office for State Farm Insurance Company. Until he retired, he worked as an Automobile Superintendent and earned his CLU and CPCU certifications.
JC was a longtime member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Monroe. He loved service and spent much of his time volunteering at Christian Community Ministries, the Ouachita Council on Aging, and with the United Methodist Men. He also served in Rotary and was a Paul Harris Fellow. JC and Ellen enjoyed traveling and visiting with friends. He loved his dogs, spending time with his family, and watching Alabama football.
JC is proceeded in death by his parents, James Crawford Cunningham Sr. and Ethelynn Sneed Cunningham; and Son-in-law Brian Fazekas. Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Mrs. Ellen W. Cunningham; son and daughter-in-law, Jay and Julie Cunningham; daughter, Kathryn Fazekas; son, Scott Cunningham; grandchildren, Mary Beth Johnston and husband Ben, John Cunningham, and Izabel Fazekas; and great grandson, Benji Johnston.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Bruce Busbice, Ken Jackson, Bennie Sims, Judge Oliver Head, and Skip Bell.
