Bradley, Jr.Mulhearn Funeral HomeWest Monroe, LA Services for James Barnis Bradley, Jr., 95, of West Monroe will be held 10:30 A.M., Tuesday, June 2, 2015 in the Feazel Chapel at First Baptist Church, West Monroe with Dr. Woods Watson officiating. Interment will follow in Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery, Monroe under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe. Mr. Bradley was born November 22, 1919 in Covington County, MS and died May 28, 2015 at Rosemont Assisted Living Center in West Monroe, LA. He had a wide range of interests and hobbies, but above all, he loved his family as he was fond of saying. He graduated from Louisiana Tech University in 1941 with Departmental Honors in Accounting, was a founding member of the Tech Collegians student orchestra and an active member of the Louisiana Tech Alumni Association. Mr. Bradley was a commissioned officer in the Navy Supply Corp during World War II, stationed on the island of Saipan in the Pacific and after returning to Monroe, retired from the Naval Reserve as a First Lieutenant Senior Grade. Mr. Bradley was a managing partner with Bradley, Heller & Company, CPA’s in Monroe for many years where he envisioned and provided financial and estate planning services well before this practice was commonplace in the accounting profession. Mr. Bradley was a past member and President of the Rotary Club of West Monroe and past Board Member for the local chapters of the Boy Scouts of America and American Red Cross. He was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church in West Monroe having served as a Lifetime Deacon, youth Sunday school teacher and served on the church Finance Committee. Mr. Bradley was a member of the Tubbs-Ziegler Sunday school class.In his retirement years while he and Edith lived in Tyler, Texas; and later in Frisco, Texas, he pursued his life-long interest in continuing education, completing certifications for Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC) and Certified Life Underwriter (CLU). He also rekindled his love for music, singing with Edith in their church senior choirs at Green Acres Baptist Church in Tyler and at First Baptist Church in Frisco as well as after their return to West Monroe, at First Baptist Church. Mr. Bradley was also an avid gardener and inventor, holding numerous patents on consumer and industrial products. He was tirelessly devoted to his family and will be dearly missed until that wonderful reunion in Heaven. He often enthusiastically sang, “We will meet again, don’t know when, but we will meet again one sunny day” to the delight of the nursing home staff and friends. Mr. Bradley was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Edith Beeson Bradley; parents, James Sr. (J.B) and Nancy Carter Bradley; his sister, Dorothy Bradley Cavendish; infant daughter, Susan; and daughter, Nancy Bradley Whitlatch.Survivors include his daughter, Linda Bradley Norwood and husband Jim of West Monroe; his son, Richard Bradley and wife Sheryl of West Monroe; son-in-law, Blake Whitlatch of Baton Rouge; two nephews, Robert Cavendish and wife Nancy of Buda, TX and Brad Cavendish and wife Tanya of Round Rock, TX; eight grandchildren, Andrea Norwood Pate and husband Josh of West Monroe, Bach Norwood of Dallas, TX, Nick Norwood of Brooklyn, NY, Nicole LeBlanc Arnold and husband Preston of Geismer, LA, Adrienne LeBlanc Maginnis and husband John of Prairieville, LA, Carter LeBlanc and wife Kate of Prairieville, Leah Whitlatch Regan and husband Brandon of Prairieville, and Lauren Bradley of West Monroe; and eight great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Brad Cavendish, Robert Cavendish, Carter LeBlanc, Bach Norwood, Clay Norwood and Nick Norwood. Honorary pallbearers will be the Lifetime Deacons at First Baptist Church of West Monroe; and members of the Tubbs-Ziegler Sunday school class. Visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M., Monday, June 1, 2015 at Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe.
