James Arvel Bradford
Memorial service will be held later for Mr. James Arvel Bradford, 88, of Monroe, LA, with The Reverend T. Whit Stodgill III officiating. Interment will follow at the St. Alban’s Episcopal Church Columbarium under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home Monroe.
Mr. Bradford was born on June 29, 1931, in Grayson, LA, and died on May 4, 2020, at his residence in Monroe. He was a member of St. Alban’s Episcopal Church, where he was a former Treasurer. His Church and family were the most important things in his life. Mr. Bradford was an Army Veteran of the Korean War. He enjoyed going on Tuesday nights to the VFW for dance night and socializing with his friends. He retired from the City of Monroe as General Manager of the Power Plant and later the Utilities Commission. Mr. Bradford was a former Little League Baseball Coach, Scout Leader, Mason, and member of the Monroe Lions Club. He was a Jack of All Trades and could fix anything and no one could fix it better than he could. Mr. Bradford could stretch a dollar and believed fixing something was better than buying something new.
Mr. Bradford was preceded in death by his grandchild, James Bradford III “Jamie”; parents, Clyde and Geneva Bradford; son-in-law, Albert Wayne Robbins, Jr. ; and brother, Clyde Bradford, Jr.
Survivors include his wife Louise Bradford; son, James Bradford, Jr. “Jim” and wife Delma of Santa Fe, TX; daughter, Sharon Bradford Robbins of Columbia, MO; son, John Bradford and wife Karen of Farmerville, LA; seven grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the Bradford’s family’s lifelong friends, Jean Martin and Margie Cooper for their love and care over the past several years, especially the past few weeks.
Memorials may be made to St. Alban’s Episcopal Church in Monroe.
