Funeral service for Mrs. Jacqueline “Jackie” Southwell, 89, Monroe, LA, will be held at 10:00AM, Wednesday, March 8, 2017, at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church with Rev. Joe Martina officiating. Interment will follow in Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Monroe, LA.
Jackie was born in Sioux City, Iowa and passed away on March 4, 2017, in Monroe.
Jackie graduated from Briar Cliff University in Sioux City, Iowa, with a B.A. She married Floyd Southwell in 1947. After moving to Monroe in 1952, she was active at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church and a member of Our Lady of Fatima Alter Society. Jackie taught at Fatima’s school for over five years, and thirty plus years in the Monroe City School System, retiring as the Early Childhood Supervisor in 1992. She earned her Master’s Degree, plus 30 credits from Northeast Louisiana University (ULM). She volunteered at St. Vincent de Paul Community Pharmacy for over 16 years.
Survivors include two children, Ann and Joe; two grandchildren, Zack and wife Terri and Kasady; and three great grandchildren, Kameron, Lizzie and Ryan.
Visitation will be 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM with a vigil at 6:00 PM, Tuesday, March 7, 2017, at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Monroe, LA.
Pallbearers will be Jerry Bartleson, Ed Dinger, Sal Petitio, John Robinson, John Biglane and Jody Lofton.
