Jack Owens Ray

Funeral Services Celebrating the Life of Mr. Jack Owens Ray, 86, of West Monroe, LA, will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, August 21, 2021, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home West Monroe, LA with Dr. Bob Holloway officiating. Interment will follow in the Fellowship Cemetery in Columbia, LA. Visitation will be held from 1:00 P.M. until service time on Saturday.

Mr. Ray was born on May 6, 1935, in Columbia, LA and passed away on August 17, 2021, at his residence in West Monroe, LA. He served in the United States Navy. He retired from Louisiana Department of Agricultural as an Entomologist, known as "The Bug Doctor" by family and friends. He loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and farming.

Mr. Ray is preceded in death by his wife, Hilda Clara Ray; daughter, Diane Gunter; son-in-law, Carroll Gunter, III; and granddaughter, Christine Gunter. Brothers Malcolm Ray and Sheldon Ray.

Survivors include his children, Karen Felder and husband, David, Lynne Tolar, David Ray and wife, Joyce, Laurie Hendrix and husband, Roland, Kevin Ray and wife, Terri, and Michelle Sweet; grandchildren, Carroll Gunter, IV and wife, Summer, Russell Gunter and wife, Yuri, Jeannie Hildebrand and husband, Chris, Michael Felder, Heather Felder, Eric Felder and wife, Lauren, Jason Tolar and wife, Nikki, Brandon Tolar, Hollie Travis and husband, Aubrey, Brian Singson, Lindsay Tyson and husband, Ryan, Jessica Mills and husband, Jesse, Justin Hendrix and Megan, LeAnne Bounds and husband, Zac, Danielle Williams, Madison Ray, Trevor Sweet and Kaitlyn Sweet; 34 great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; sisters-in-law, Mable Ray, Patsy Ray, Dolores Pancrazi and Yvonne Donnelly; and half-sisters, Sharon Worsham and Trudy Cranford.

Mr. Jack’s grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

The family would like to give a special thank you to Mr. Ray’s caregivers for taking such great care of our dad, especially Michelle Sweet.
