J. V. Ostteen (PePaw)
Funeral services for Mr. J. V. (PePaw) Ostteen of Monroe, LA, will be held at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, July 12, 2018, in the Mausoleum Chapel at Mulhearn Memorial Park in Monroe, LA with Rev. Bob Clanton and Rev. Ronald Lee Ostteen officiating. Visitation will be held from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M., Wednesday, July 11, 2018, at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Monroe, LA.
Mr. Ostteen was born in Hebert, LA, on July 27, 1929, and passed away July 8, 2018, at the age of 88. He is preceded in death by his wife, Jean Volentine Ostteen; parents, Walter Lee and Emma Etier Ostteen; brothers, W. L. Ostteen Sr., Claude Ostteen, T.J. Ostteen and V.H. Ostteen; sisters, Gartha Lee Thomas and Hester Mills.
Mr. Ostteen started his career at Olin Kraft Paper Company (which went through a host of names including Manville, Riverwood, Georgia Pacific) and retired from Manville and Georgia Pacific after 47 years. He was a member of New Life Community Church and served in the U.S. Army.
Left behind to cherish his memories are his children: daughter, Linda O. Brewer; and son, Mark Shannon Ostteen (Cheryl); grandsons, Richard Brewer (Ginger), Mark Ostteen, Jr. (Jesse), granddaughter, Leslie Lawson; great-grandsons, Joshua Lawson, Caleb Lawson and Titan Ostteen; as well as step-grandson Casey Hodge (Megan) and several step great-grandchildren (Matt Gentry, Skyla Gentry, Kannon Hodge and Landrie Hodge).
Mr. Ostteen’s greatest joy was his grandchildren and being PePaw to his three great-grandsons. He loved hunting and fishing.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
