Irma Jeane Dowdey Gonzales of Monroe, LA passed to be with her Lord and Savior on January 19, 2017. She was 86 years old. Irma was a bookkeeper and stop smoking Therapist. She served as president of the American Cancer Society for 4 years. Mrs. Gonzales was active with the March of Dimes and the American Red Cross as well. She loved cooking and being with family and friends. Irma Jeane graduated from Ouachita Parish High School in 1948.
She is survived by her husband, of 63 years, Jose Guadalupe “Lupe” Gonzales; daughter, Virginia Anne; three sons, Phillip Morgan, James Michael and Stephen Andrew; two grandsons, Jacob Michael and Benjamin Morgan; cousin, Charles A. Dowdy; many nieces and nephews; her in-laws, Carmen and Elmo Smith, Margaret Gonzales, Rose and Raymond McVay, Rachel and Hubert Strain, Hope and Al Frederico, Helen Hendricks, Veronica Green, Sam Gonzales, and Theresa and Charles Hunt.
At this time there will be no services for Mrs. Gonzales. A Holy Mass will be said at a later date.
