Ira Gene Taylor

Funeral Services for Mr. Ira Gene Taylor, 96, of West Monroe, LA, will be 2:00 PM Thursday, January 27, 2022, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe with Dr. Greg Clark officiating. Interment will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery.

Ira was born September 21, 1925, in Farmerville, LA, and passed away on January 23, 2022, in West Monroe, LA. He was a member of Cedar Crest Baptist Church and worked as an accountant for many years. He was a World War II Veteran, a Purple Heart Recipient and many more medals. He was a war hero.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Inell Charles Taylor; his daughter, Vicki Taylor Waldron; his grandson, Blake Langdon Crow; and his brothers, Wayne Odom and Ross Odom.

Survivors include his daughters, Joni Taylor Crow and Renae Taylor Monk and husband Mike; brother, Gayle Odom; sister-in-law, Dr. Gloria Brantley and husband Ellard; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren; as well as other family members.

Pallbearers will be Adam Smith, Matthew Lary, Gary Moore, Jr., Bill Roark, Bob Dumas, and Harold Snowden.

Visitation will be from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM Thursday at Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of the Northeast Louisiana War Veterans Home.
