Graveside Services for Ila Mae Bailey Simmons, 93, of West Monroe, LA will be held 11:00 A.M., Saturday, April 8, 2017 at Roselawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Calhoun, LA under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe, LA with Dr. Jim Wolfe officiating.
Ila Bailey was born February 17, 1924 in Caldwell Parish, grew up in Monroe, met and married Charles Roy Simmons, and lived in West Monroe for over 70 years. She passed away April 6, 2017 at the West Monroe Guest House. Ms. Simmons was a southern Baptist, member of order of the Eastern Star and worked in the custom drapery business for over 30 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Roy Simmons; two brothers, Autice D. Bailey and Clayton Bailey; and a son-in-law, Robert Crawford.
Survivors include her two daughters, Gloria Jackson and husband Stephen of Mountain Home, Arkansas, and Faye Brown and husband Terry of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; two grandsons, Jeffrey Jackson and wife Samantha of Batavia, Illinois, and John Jackson of Denver, Colorado; and one great grandchild, Zachary Jackson of Batavia, Illinois.
Rather than flowers, memorials may be made to the Louisiana Baptist Children’s Home.
