Ignatius John Whelan, Jr.

Funeral services celebrating the life of Mr. Ignatius John Whelan, Jr., 91, of Calhoun, LA, will be held at 10:00 AM Wednesday, June 8, 2022, at Mulhearn Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel in Monroe, LA, with Rev. Ercel Clark, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in Mulhearn Memorial Park in Monroe, LA, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home in West Monroe, LA.

Mr. Whelan passed away on June 5, 2022, in Monroe, LA.

Mr. Whelan was a member of Christ Church in West Monroe, LA. He retired from Lowe’s as shipping and appliance manager. He served in the United States Army and Air Force Reserves. He and Jessie loved to travel, especially on cruises and enjoyed working in their yard, keeping the flowers beds immaculate.

He was preceded in death by two wives, Dollie Guin Whelan and Jessie Marie Whelan; his sisters, Helen Walsh and husband, George, Sister Mary Whelan, and Joan Powers and husband, Donald; and stepdaughter, Susie Seidenspinner.

Survivors: Son, John Michael Whelan; Stepchildren, Vivian Martin and husband Michael, Judy Fuller, Jerry Guin and wife Anita, Garland White, and B. J. White and wife Carol; Sister, Patti Campbell and husband Ted; and numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M., Tuesday, June 7, 2022, at Mulhearn Funeral Home in West Monroe, LA.

The family would like to give special thanks to the staff of Passages Hospice for their love and care of John.
