Ida Ruth Lyde

Funeral Services for Ida Ruth Lyde, 88, of West Monroe, LA will be held at 2:00 P.M., Monday, January 22, 2024, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Monroe, Louisiana, with Bro. Skip Dean officiating. Interment will follow in Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Monroe. Visitation will be held at 1:00 P.M. until the time of service.

Ida was born on June 6, 1935, in Parks, LA and passed away on January 17, 2024, in Monroe, LA. She was an avid tennis player for over fifty years and loved playing with her brother, Jesse. Ida was named the 2007 BMW Combo doubles section champion. She was a member of the MAC Country Club and Highland Baptist Church. Ida loved serving the Lord and cherished her weekly visits with Shelly. She wanted to express her gratitude to Dr. Ronald Hammet for his love, care, and compassion for over forty years.  

Ida is preceded in death by her husband, Allen Lyde; daughter, Kathy Tornatore; parents, Henry and Vera Thomas; brothers, John Thomas, Jack Thomas, and Jessie Thomas; and sisters, Margaret Sewell, Lavon Frazier, and Marcelle Erickson.

Survivors include her children, Robert Lyde and his wife, Gail, Wanda Welch, and Lisa Morgan; sister, Barbara Evans; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. 

Pallbearers will be Charles Zimek, Randy Morgan, Tristan Adkison, Bryson Taylor, Michael Adkison, and Jim Rountree. Honorary Pallbearers will be Brandon Lyde and Jason Lyde. 

In lieu of flowers, the family asks memorials to be made to the Gideons.
