Hugh Spencer McLaughlin

Memorial services for Hugh Spencer McLaughlin, 90, of Monroe, will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, February 1, 2014, at Northminster Church with Dr. Welton Gaddy officiating.
Mr. McLaughlin was born January 17, 1924 in Mooresville, NC and passed away Sunday, January 26, 2014, at Ridgecrest Community Care Center in West Monroe. He was a corrosion engineer for Trans Continental Pipeline, retiring after 30 years of service. Mr. McLaughlin was also a United States Army veteran serving during World War II. After retirement, Mr. McLaughlin spent much of his time playing the sport he loved, golf.
Mr. McLaughlin was preceded in death by his parents, Bruce A. and Fannie Stutts McLaughlin; wife, Kay B. McLaughlin; and brother, Harold McLaughlin
Survivors include his wife, Mary Elizabeth Pate McLaughlin; children, Pamela Maxwell and husband Dale of Hendersonville, NC, George Pate and wife Nina of Monroe, Jim Pate and wife Andrea of Lafayette, LA, Patti Pate of Monroe, and Beth Pate Ingram of Monroe; grandchildren, Amy C. Cain and husband Reggie of Concord, NC, Allison Rosen and husband Garrett of Lafayette, LA, Erin Romero and husband Blake of Lafayette, LA, Caitlin Dominique and husband Ross of Lafayette, LA, Maggie Pate Barrett of New Orleans, LA, Meredith Pate of Monroe, Mary Elizabeth Ingram of New York, NY, and Zachary Pate Ingram of Baton Rouge, LA; and great grandsons, Matthew and Mason Cain, Anders Rosen, and Coen and Ian Romero.
Visitation will be Saturday from 9:30 AM until service time at the church.
The family wishes to extend their thanks to caregivers Grace Walker, Brenda Wood, and the nurses and administration of Ridgecrest Community Care Center, West Monroe and special friend Ken Jackson.
