Funeral service for Mr. Huey Sims, 85, of Monroe, LA, will be held at 10:00AM Monday, February 21, 2022, at Jesus the Good Shepherd Catholic Church with Rev. Michael Thang’wa officiating. Interment will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home Sterlington Rd. Monroe. Visitation will be from 9:00AM until service time Monday at the Church.

Mr. Sims was born on December 31, 1936, and passed away on February 17, 2022. Huey loved being outside, especially to watch the birds and squirrels. He enjoyed planting flowers and watching them grow. He loved to fish and hunt. Huey enjoyed woodworking and made a prayer box for Jesus the Good Shepherd Catholic Church. He made several items for the church nursery, the Sisters at Jesus the Good Shepherd Catholic School, and St. Fredericks High School. Huey was preceded in death by his father, Aubrey Sims; mother, Rosa Armstrong Sims; brother, James Sims; and sister, Narvie Ferrel.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Ann Sims; children, Sherry Mizell (Jeff), Theresa “Terrie” Graham (John), Steven “Steve” Sims (Myka), Donna McLemore (Chuck), and Patricia “Patty” Rogers (Hal); brothers, Bobby Sims (Martha) and Charles Sims (Kay); sisters, Nancy Fincher and Linda Fletcher; grandchildren, Allison DeMarinis (Lou), Andy Mizell (Shannon), Matt Hill (Candi), Jamie Chambless (Chris), Jacob Graham, Alban Sims (Alia), Abram Sims, Asa Sims, Stephen McLemore (Rayanna), Michael McLemore, Patrick Murphy and Marianna Murphy; and great grandchildren, Moira DeMarinis, Maggie Mizell, Connor Hill, Kamryn Hill, Aubrey Garner, Gage Chambless, and Chole Chambless.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at Ouachita Healthcare Rehabilitation Center for the care and support given to Huey and his family.

In lieu of flowers memorial may be sent to Jesus the Good Shepherd Catholic Church or School.
