Funeral Services for Mr. Huey P. Mills, Sr., 78, of Monroe, LA will be 10:00 AM Saturday, August 20, 2011, at Christ Church in West Monroe with Rev. Tom Lowe officiating. Graveside Services will be held at 3:00 PM Saturday, August 20, 2011 at Alexandria Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Alexandria, LA with Rev. Anthony Mangun officiating.
Mr. Mills was born October 27, 1932 in Jena, LA and passed away on August 17, 2011 in Monroe, LA. He was a member of Christ Church. Mr. Mills retired after 30 years as the Maintenance Supervisor from the City of Alexandria Power Plant. He is preceded in death by his parents, John Mills and Zula Mae Mobley Mills; brothers, Woodrow Mills and Lester Mills.
Survivors include: his wife, Maxine Mills; daughter, Debi Mills Wilhite and her husband Billy; son, Huey P. Mills, Jr. and his wife, Michelle, grandchildren, Austin Mills and Madeline Mills; 3 step-sons, Don West and his wife Brenda, Paul West and his wife DeAn, Dale West and wife JoAnn; step-daughter, Barbara Ashley and her husband Wain; 7 step-grandchildren; 2 brothers, Burley Mills and his wife Maria, and Roy Mills; 3 sisters, Ollie Mae Labarge, Velma Mae Johnson, and Odessa “Bootsie” Simmons; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friend, Jack Hutchinson.
Pallbearers will be Austin Mills, Terry Halford, Tommy Marsh, Dale West, Don West, and Paul West. Honorary Pallbearer will be Jack Hutchinson.
Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM Friday, August 19, 2011 at Christ Church in West Monroe.
