Hosea S. McNew, Jr.

Funeral services celebrating the life of Mr. Hosea S. McNew, Jr., 84, of Monroe, LA will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday June 12, 2023, at First Baptist Church in Swartz, LA with Rev. Jeff Funderburk officiating. Interment will follow in Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery in Monroe, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home.

Mr. McNew died June 9, 2023, at St. Francis Medical Center after a brief illness.

Mr. McNew was a longtime member of First Baptist Church in Swartz, LA He was retired Human Resource Manager with Ouachita National Bank and G. B. Cooley Services. He received his B. S. degree from the University of Mississippi (Ole Miss) and his Master’s degree from Northeast Louisiana University. Hosea served in the United States Air Force stationed at Fort Knox. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed playing basketball, softball, and golf.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Hosea and Alvie McNew, Son, Jason Christopher McNew, granddaughter, Whitney Fox, two brothers and a sister.

Survivors: his wife of 65 years, Mrs. Vonnell Hill McNew; Son, Jeff McNew and his wife, Debbie; Daughter, Jennifer Funderburk and her husband, Jeff; Grandchildren, Seth and Jesse McNew, Kayla and Nic Funderburk; 3 Great Grandchildren, Silvia Fox, Theo and Graham Fox.

Pallbearers will be J. R. Capps, Billy Bell, Jerry Graves, Seth McNew, Jesse McNew, and Trey Telano.

Visitation will be from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM at First Baptist Church in Swartz, LA.

Memorials may be made to the Louisiana Baptist Children's Home or First Baptist Church in Swartz, LA.
