Henry Hank Hanna, Jr., 88, passed away on August 29, 2022, following a long fight with Pulmonary Fibrosis. He was born on April 8th, 1934, in Winnsboro, La to the late Henry H. Hanna, Sr and the late Gertrude Hanna. He grew up in Winnsboro alongside his close cousin, the late Sam Hanna. Henry joined the Marines and was deployed to Korea from 1954-1956. When he left active service, he moved to Monroe, Louisiana where he made a career as an insurance salesman. He married his sweetheart, Joe Marie Ellett on July 15th, 1972. Known as Hank to some and Henry to others, he built himself into a quiet, determined man of strong feelings.
Hank is survived by his wife of 50 years, Joe Marie Ellett Hanna, brother-in-law, John D. Ellett of West Monroe; nephews, David Ellett and wife Katrina of New Caney, TX, and Darin Ellett and wife Stephanie of West Monroe; niece, Diana Ellett Butler and husband Tom of Franklin, TN. He is also survived by several great nieces and nephews.
Special thanks to the loving support of great friends Cheryl Lawrence and Cheryl Carr. Thanks to Elara Care Hospice, Brooke, Jessica, McKenna and all the other staff of Azalea Estates for the most considerate and thorough care for Hank in his final months.
Henry will be interred at Hasley Cemetery in West Monroe Louisiana. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, September 6, 2022, at 11:00 am with Pastor Shawn Hornsby officiating.
