Funeral services for Mrs. Helen Wilds Edwards of Monroe, will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, June 24, 2010, at Jesus the Good Shepherd Catholic Church with Msgr. Edmund Moore officiating. Interment will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe.

Mrs. Edwards died Monday, June 21, 2010, at St. Francis Medical Center after a lengthy illness. Mrs. Edwards was born in Monroe on May 27, 1930. She attended St. Matthew’s Elementary and High School and went on to graduate from Maryville College in St. Louis, MO. She returned to Monroe after graduating and spent time traveling with her parents before marrying Lee Graham Edwards, Jr., who preceded her in death in 2004. She was a member of Jesus the Good Shepherd Catholic Church and the Junior League of Monroe.

She was also preceded in death by her father, Charles E. Wilds, Sr.; her mother, Veronica Tushaus Wilds; her brother, Dr. Charles E. Wilds, Jr.; sisters, Mary Ann Wilds Kynoch, Veronica Wilds Davidson, and Betty Wilds Davidson; a beloved niece, two nephews, and a great nephew.

Mrs. Edwards was a loving mother to six children and cherished grandmother to seven grandchildren, who she was dearly known as “GaGa” or “Grandmama.”

Her memory will live through her daughters, Teresa Edwards Shelton and husband Greg of Monroe, Bridget Edwards Rabb and husband Joseph of Dallas, Elizabeth Edwards Myers and husband John of Monroe, and Audrey Edwards Malloy and husband Steve of Monroe; sons, Kevin Lee Edwards of Monroe, and Christopher Charles Edwards and wife Kayla of Monroe. She will be greatly missed by her grandchildren, Lee and Brian Shelton, Natalie and Mallory Myers, Matthew and Michael Malloy, and Charlie Edwards. She will also live in the memory of her many nieces and nephews and their families, as family meant everything to her.

Pallbearers will be her nephews Drew Davidson, Edward Davidson, and her godson Dennis Davidson, and family friends, Robert Lauve, Charles Ellis, and Brent Adams.

Honorary pallbearers will be her godson Jim Bell, dear friends Sonny Bledsoe and George Stamper, and her nephew and godson Jim Davidson.

Memorials may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Jesus the Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Monroe.
