Helen “Nan Naw” Lingle Warrington (96), a resident of Alexandria, Louisiana for over 58 years, moved to heaven on Monday the 20th of February at St. Bernard’s Medical Center in Jonesboro, Arkansas.
Born in Crowville, Louisiana in 1920, Helen moved with her family to Monroe, Louisiana as a child. She married in 1939, and traveled with her husband. Helen settled with her family in Alexandria until 2015 when she moved to Fountain Place in Cherokee Village, Arkansas. In 2017, Helen celebrated the new year by moving to Jonesboro, Arkansas to live with family.
Throughout her years Helen enjoyed many professions, she worked as an accountant at Selman Army Airfield, an auditor for an Alexandria CPA firm, a former secretary at Horseshoe Drive Elementary, and as a florist at Stan’s in Alexandria. She served as President of the Airview Terrace Garden Club for many years, and was a devoted member of Baptist Temple Church.
Helen enjoyed socializing, crafting, ceramics, painting, flower arranging, word puzzles, the Disney channel, lemonade, ice cream, chocolate, and providing her family with an abundance of TLC.
Nan Naw (aka Big Diddy), as she loved to be called, will be remembered fondly for her sweet, loving disposition, and bright, contagious smile.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Buckley “Duane” Warrington; parents, Earl Lingle, Sr. and Thelma, and her three sons, Buckley “Little Buck” Warrington, Jr., John “Danny” Warrington, and Rickey J. Warrington.
She is survived by her sister, Edith Berry; brother, Earl Lingle, Jr. (Jane); daughter-in-law, Mary Warrington; two granddaughters, Farah Spanier-Chase, MSW (Joseph) and Katrina Ward (David); three grandsons, Bradley D. Warrington, Wayne Layssard (Melanie) and Matt Layssard; seven great-grandchildren, Kayla Spanier, Josh Gray, Jacob Setliff, Erica Layssard-Godfrey, Evan Layssard, Fanci Layssard, and Harley Layssard; seven great-great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, February 25, 2016, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home in Monroe, LA. An intimate graveside prayer and interment will follow in Riverview Cemetery in Monroe, LA.
Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until service time.
Pallbearers will be Bradley D. Warrington, Joseph Chase, Matt Layssard, David Ward, Mark Lingle, and Chris Matthews.
