Hazel Pippins Hodge Ward

February 19, 1921 — March 22, 2016

On Tuesday, March 22, 2016 Hazel Pippins Hodge Ward 95 went to her heavenly home on the wings of angels. She died peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family. Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M., Saturday, March 26, 2016 at Christian Life Church in Monroe with Rev. Danny Chance, Earline Chance and Ellen Chance officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Friday, March 25, 2016 at Christian Life Church in Monroe. Interment will be in Rhymes Cemetery in Richland Parish, LA under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe. Hazel was born Feb 19, 1921 in Liddieville, LA to the union of William Wesley and Beruthie Poole Pippins. In 1940, Hazel wed James Cleather Hodge in Mangham, LA. To that union was born 10 children, 5 girls and 5 boys of whom she was very proud. She loved and prayed for her family daily. She raised six of her children alone when her husband died. She was a lifelong member of Christian Life Church, an avid quilter and was retired from TG&Y. She was the oldest member of her church. She loved her Lord her family and her church in that order.She was preceded in death by 2 husbands; a daughter, Betty Hodge Price; granddaughter, Angie Hodge; grandson Michael “Stevie” Price; 1 great grandson; 2 great-great granddaughters; 6 sisters; and 8 brothers.Those left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Virgie Hodge Spells, Marilyn Hodge Cook, Mary Hodge Price and husband Michael, Frances Hodge Mizell and husband Bob; sons, James W. Hodge and wife Gloria Pardue, Olan R. Hodge and wife Bobbie Price, Jerry G. Hodge and wife Dianne Evans, Rev. John W. Hodge and wife Jenny Holbrook, and Alvin L. Hodge and wife Margrie McFerren; sisters; Lillian Cox and JoyAnn Evans. She also leaves behind 28 grandchildren, 60 great grandchildren and 27 great-great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Jonathan Hodge, Chris Hodge, Craig Hodge, Raymond Stuckey, Jacob Sanders and Jonathan Sanders. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to “Planting for our Future” at Christian Life Church 6680 Frontage Road, Monroe, LA 71202.
