Hazel Calvert

A Private Family Funeral Service for Mrs. Hazel Edna Hoben Calvert, 72, of Rayville, Louisiana will be held at a later date under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home. Interment will be in Rayville Masonic Cemetery.Mrs. Calvert died Tuesday, December 22, 2015 at Colonial Manor Nursing Home.Mrs. Calvert was the daughter of the late James Edward Hoben and Hazel Greer Hoben. She was born at home on Clear Lake and was delivered by Dr. Tom Sayre. Hazel was a graduate of Rayville High School, class of 1961. She was also a graduate of Northeast Louisiana University in 1965 with a degree in Pure and Applied Mathematics. She was a housewife and accounting manager of the family insurance agency. She was also an active member of Rayville United Methodist Church for 51 years.Mrs. Calvert was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Gerald James Hoben. Survivors: include her husband of 51 years, Robert W. Calvert, Jr. of Rayville; Son and daughter-in-law: Edward and Jennifer Calvert of Ruston; Daughter and son-in-law: Sarah and John Blackwell of Rayville; five grandchildren and two nieces.The family would like to extend special thanks to Rene Jackson at Louisiana Hospice along with the administration, the nurses and nursing aides of Colonial Manor Nursing Home, especially Rob Landry, Sharon Young, Ruby Wilson and Dani Spencer.Memorials may be made to Rayville United Methodist Church, St. Judes or the charity of your choice.
