To honor Harry’s wishes, there will be no funeral. A private graveside service will be held at a later date.
Harry was born in Carlisle, Pennsylvania on August 10, 1942 and died at University Healthcare, Shreveport on January 3, 2018 at the age of 75.
In his earlier years he enjoyed fishing, golfing, and bird hunting. His hunting dogs were considered pets to him and DeWanna.
Harry was a good cook and especially enjoyed feeding his friends as they watched an LSU game.
Harry liked feeding the birds and squirrels in his backyard and really enjoyed watching the hummingbirds flying to their feeders.
Harry was an accountant for many years, but managed Winnsboro Beverage Packers until his retirement.
Harry is survived by his wife of 43 years, DeWanna Gilbert. He is also survived by brothers-Ray (Sally) Gilbert of Aledo, Texas and Eddie (Debbie) Gilbert of Midlothian, Texas and best friend-Mike Tucker.
Harry was preceded in death by his parents-Ruth and Harry K. Gilbert, Sr., who was Sustan Garment Plant’s first manager when it opened here in the late 1950’s.
