Harold Eugene "Gene" McCormick, Jr.

Funeral Services for Mr. Harold E. “Gene” McCormick, Jr., 82, of Calhoun, LA, will be held at 2:30 P.M., Sunday, January 26, 2020, at New Chapel Hill Baptist Church with Dr. Marty Black officiating. Interment will follow in New Chapel Hill Baptist Church Cemetery under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe. Visitation will be held from 1:30 P.M. until service time on Sunday at the church.

Mr. McCormick was born February 1, 1937 and passed away January 21, 2020. He was a member of the New Chapel Hill Baptist Church and served in the United States Navy. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, loved to garden and tinker with his old tractor and golf cart.

Gene was preceded in death by his parents, Harold McCormick, Sr. and Geneva Lee McCormick; two brothers, Bernard McCormick and Tommy McCormick; and one sister, Dorothy Castle.

Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Virdie McCormick; his children, Harold W. McCormick and wife Laurie, Garry D. McCormick and wife Katrina; Kimberly Ford and husband Herman, Sharon Boothe and husband Michael, Ronald Dowd and wife Tammy, and Edie Dement; brother, Ernest McCormick and wife Vera; eighteen grandchildren; twenty-five great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Evan McCormick, Jacob McCormick, Caleb DeMint, Alex Boothe, Jodie Tomilinson, and Don Price.
