Funeral Services for Mrs. Gloria Jean Edwards, 81, of West Monroe, LA will be held at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, May 4, 2017 in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe, LA with Pastor Rick Crandall officiating. Interment will follow at Hasley Cemetery in West Monroe, LA.

Mrs. Edwards was born in Delhi, LA to the union of her parents, Williams Samuel Chapman Sr. and Clara Bell Moore Chapman and passed from this earthly life on May 1, 2017 surrounded by her family at Glenwood Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Edwards was a member of Cedar Crest Baptist Church, where she loved to be before she was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. She was a loving wife and mother, and enjoyed taking care of her family, always putting their needs before hers and teaching her children wrong from right and life’s lessons. She loved being outside working in her yard, as long as her health would allow her to be.

She was preceded in death by her best friend and husband of 47 years, James “Jim” Edwards; her parents; William Samuel Chapman, Sr. and Clara Bell Moore Chapman; siblings, Wes Chapman , Earl Chapman, William Samuel Chapman, Jr., Jimmy Chapman and Opal Wilson.

She leaves behind to cherish her memories her three children, Lonnie Edwards of Acworth, GA, Vicki Kennedy (Victor), and Wanda Edwards all of West Monroe, LA; grandchildren, Nick Kennedy (Jessica), Ashely Edwards, Zack Kennedy (Tina), James Edwards, and Whitney Hamilton (Dan); nine great grandchildren; Mary Jane Bayles of Conroe, TX, who was like a sister to her; and numerous nieces and nephews who dearly loved their “Aunt Jeannie”.

Pallbearers will be Victor Kennedy, Nick Kennedy, Zack Kennedy, Dan Hamilton, Buster Chapman and Mark Barnes.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M., Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe, LA.
