Funeral services for Gerald Wayne Stanley, 78, of Monroe, LA, will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, January 7, 2016 in the chapel at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Monroe, with Mr. Richard Byrd officiating. Interment will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery.Mr. Stanley died Tuesday, January 5, 2016, at St. France Medical Center. He graduated with a B.S. from Harding University and finished his Master’s Degree at NLU. Mr. Stanley was a Navy Veteran and later retired as a Superintendent from East Carroll Parish Schools. He was a member of Swartz Church of Christ. Mr. Stanley was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Audrey Jones Stanley.Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Sherry H. Stanley; children, Mark Stanley and wife Susan, Jerry Stanley and wife Christine; Dr. Gary Stanley and wife Jamie; eight grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; two sisters, Anne Jones and Judy Hattaway; brother, Richard Stanley and wife Betty Carol; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.Pallbearers will be his grandsons.Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM Wednesday, January 6, 2016, at the funeral home.The family wishes to extend their thanks to the nurses on the 6th and 7th floors of Skilled Nursing at St. Francis Medical Center and Dr. Greg Green.Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.Online Registry/Condolences: www.mulhearnfuneralhome.comMulhearn Funeral HomeSterlington RoadMonroe, LA
