Georgia Ellen McGaha Talton passed away on August 18, 2018 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was 73 years old. She was born on February 26, 1945, in Bastrop, Louisiana.
She is survived by her mother, Helen Robinson McGaha, and four loving children, Kriste Talton Utley (Christopher), Stephen Eric Talton, Anna Talton Reynolds (William Justin Lambert), and Julie Talton McCrory (Dwayne “Dane”). She is also survived by her seven grandchildren, Whitney Elizabeth Gentry Walkowski (Dustin), Janna Nicole Lowry, Seth Anthony McCrory, Symantha Reese Talton, Dylon Justin Lambert, Grace Catherine Utley, and Harlan Thomas Utley; and one great-granddaughter, Zoey London McCrory.
She was preceded in death by her father, Harlan McGaha; her brothers, Ray Carl McGaha, Harlan Lafayette McGaha, and Sammy Robinson; and her grand-parents, Lafayette Washington McGaha and Mae Freeland McGaha, and Carl Robinson and Velma Sinclair Robinson.
Georgia graduated Bastrop High School in 1963 where she was a member of Mu Sigma Honor Society, and she attended Northeast Louisiana University where she studied English. She worked for many years as a bookkeeper, most recently for D.W. Thomas and Son Contractors in Bastrop, Louisiana. She was an avid reader and loved the classics of Shakespeare, Steinbeck, Hemingway, Dostoevsky, and Harper Lee. Georgia was a devoted Christian and worshipped for many years at Trinity Lutheran Church in Monroe, Louisiana.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, August 21, 2018, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Trinity Lutheran Church in Monroe, Louisiana. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 22, 2018, at 10:00 AM (visitation before at 9:00 AM) at Trinity Lutheran Church, with interment at McGaha Memorial (Redwing) Cemetery in Oak Grove, Louisiana at 1:30 PM, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Monroe.
