Georgia Savoie Canterbury

Funeral services celebrating the life of Mrs. Georgia Savoie Canterbury, 87, of West Monroe, LA will be held at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday December 06, 2023, at McClendon Baptist Church in West Monroe, LA with Rev. Rick Crandall and Rev. Kevin Stewart officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Calhoun, Louisiana, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home in West Monroe, LA

Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M., Tuesday at McClendon Baptist Church in West Monroe, LA.

Mrs. Canterbury was born on September 14, 1936, and passed away on December 3, 2023, at Savannah Grand Assisted Living.

Mrs. Canterbury was a member of Mt. Ararat Baptist Church in Downsville, where she formerly served as Choir Director. She was a longtime member of McClendon Baptist Church serving alongside of her late husband, Rev. Herman Savoie, as choir director and many ministries of the church. She was a school teacher serving in the Ouachita Parish School System for many years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Herman M. Savoie, Sr.; her parents, Leon and Martile Travis.

Survivors: Husband, Doyle Canterbury her children, Sandy S. Cameron and husband, Gus, Herman M. “Butch” Savoie, Jr. and wife, Lori, Ken Savoie, and Becky S. Lawrence and husband, Gary; 12 Grandchildren and 22 Great Grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Brad Craighead, Bryan Craighead, Walt Silmon, Ryan Etier, Kent Savoie, Kreg Savoie, and Kris Savoie.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Music Ministry at McClendon Baptist Church in West Monroe, LA.
