George Whipple Temple, age 94, longtime resident of Monroe, went to join his many friends and family in heaven on August 28, 2016. George, the eldest of three sons was born to George Cyrus and Isabel Carson Barnes Temple on August 6, 1922, in Newfane, VT. George, a devoted servant of his Lord was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church of Monroe.
George served during WWII as a Navigator in the Army Air Corp. He attended Northeast College while stationed at Selman Field. During that time, he attended First United Methodist Church where he met his beautiful bride Irvie Lee Humble. They were married in November 19, 1944.
He is survived by the loving children he adored, Irvie Isabel “Belle” Warr of Clayton, AL, George Donald “Donnie” Temple of Kingston, WA, Anita Joan Warren and husband Wayne of Mill Creek, WA, Paul Nelson Temple and wife Kay of Monroe, LA and Houston, TX, and his Little Gal.
He is also survived by the grandchildren that adored him, Larry Schonfarber of Clayton, AL, Tony Schonfarber of Chicago, IL, Dawn Knox of Houston, TX, Adrienne Schonfarber of Clayton, AL, Sterling Schonfarber of Knoxville, TN, Rachael Osterhouse of Mill Creek, WA, Christy Temple of Wenatchee, WA, Judi Ballantyne of Australia, Tina Osterhouse of Carnation, WA, Brandon Temple of Everett, WA, Justin Temple of West Monroe, LA and Rusty Warr of Clayton, AL. Beloved Caregiver and friend Brenda Spillman. Also numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family on the evening of Wednesday, August 31st from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe, LA. We are celebrating George’s life with a funeral service to be held 10:00 AM, Thursday, September 1, 2016 at First United Methodist Church on Loop Road in Monroe. Dr. Lynn Malone will officiate. Graveside services with full Military honors will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Larry Schonfarber, Tony Schonfarber, Rusty Warr, Leslie Humble, Billy Stover, Mark Fandal. Honorary Pallbearer is Eddie Simmons.
In lieu of flowers the family would ask that donations be made in Memory of George to The Wounded Warrior Project or the Charity of your choice.
