George Robert Collier, Jr
A gathering of family and friends to celebrate the life of George Robert (Bob) Collier, Jr, 65 of Monroe, LA will be held from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Saturday January 9, 2021 at Mulhearn Funeral Home Sterlington Rd. Monroe, LA.
The family would request social distancing and masks will be required, they would ask friends to come and go in a timely manner because of the conditions with COVID 19.
A private family service will be held Monday at St. Paul’s Columbarium with Rev. R. B. Moore officiating, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home.
Bob died January 04, 2021 at the Oschner L.S.U. Medical Center in Shreveport, LA after a brief illness.
Bob was a member of the St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Monroe, LA, where he was a longtime member of the Chancel Choir. He received his B.B.A in Accounting from Northeast Louisiana University and his Juris Doctorate from Tulane University School of Law in New Orleans. He served as Chairman of the Section of Taxation of the Louisiana State Bar Association and Chairman of the Tax Law Advisory Commission of the Louisiana Board of Legal Specialization. He was also a member of the IRS Gulf Coast TE/CE Advisory Commission.
Bob served on many local non-profit boards, including The Ronald McDonald House and The Wellspring.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Rosella Collier, and his brother, Mike Collier.
Survivors: his daughter, Sarah E. Collier; grandchildren, Landen and Maycie Absher; Sisters, Dawn Pesnell and Kathi Collier.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, The Ronald McDonald House, or The Wellspring.
