George Lloyd Bennett

Memorial service for Mr. George Lloyd Bennett, 78, of Benton, LA, will be held 1:00PM Sunday, January 13, 2019, at Grace Baptist Church in Monroe with Rev. Ricky Baker officiating under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe.

Mr. Bennett was born on April 26, 1940, and passed away on December 3, 2018, at his residence with his family by his side. He was a Navy Veteran, Deacon at Grace Baptist Church. He was a Deacon and an Awana Leader at Red River Baptist Church in Benton, LA. Mr. Bennett loved to hunt and fish and loved spending time with his family, but especially his grandchildren.

Mr. Bennett was preceded in death by his parents, George Virgil Bennett and Wilma Myrtle Chambers Bennett; grandson, Charles David Donelson; brother, Donald Ray Bennett; sister, Reba Lou Rogers; two brothers-in-law, Frank O’Pry and Elmer Yellott; and sister-in-law, Ruth Bennett.

Survivors include his loving wife of 53 years, Marie Bennett; four children, Lee Bennett and his wife Jerri; Brett Bennett and his wife Kristin; Chuck Bennett and his wife, Mimi, and Jessica Vandervoort and her husband Rob; eleven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Iva Dell O’Pry and Wilma Yellott; brother, Glenn Bennett; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family.

Visitation will be from 12:00PM until service time Sunday, January 13, 2018, at Grace Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to Grace Baptist Church.
