Funeral services for George Leslie Hollis, Jr., 90, of Sterlington, LA, will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 10, 2016, at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery Mausoleum Chapel with Rev. Bob Clanton officiating. Interment will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery, Monroe, LA.Mr. Hollis died Saturday, August 6, 2016 at Northeast Louisiana War Veterans Home in Monroe, LA. He was employed for 37 years at Mississippi River Transmission Corporation in Perryville, LA. He retired in 1986. He served in the Army from June 1944 to June 1946, in the 1st Battalion, Big Red One, 94th Infantry Division. He was a WWII Veteran. He also served on the Honor Guard Detail for General George Patton’s funeral.Mr. Hollis was preceded in death by his mother, Willie Mae Hollis; father, George Leslie Hollis, Sr.; brothers, Douglas Hollis, and James Hollis; sisters, Barbara Hollis Love, and Lorraine Hollis Phillips.Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Lucille Gates Hollis; Brother, Grant Lee “Buddy” Hollis; sister, Constance “Connie” Grenfell; children, Patricia Hollis Kemp and husband Billy, Richard Hollis, Jeffrey Hollis and wife Rene, Paul Hollis, and Amy Hollis Strickland; eight nephews and nieces; seven grandchildren; four great grandchildren. Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 9, 2016, at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Monroe, LA.
