Funeral services celebrating the life of Mr. George W. Grubbs, 88, of Monroe, LA will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday April 30, 2025, at Lea Joyner Memorial Methodist Church in Monroe, LA with Rev. Betty Swanson, Dr. Jerry Grubbs, and Dr. Perry Grubbs officiating. Interment will follow in Delhi Masonic Cemetery in Delhi, LA, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home in Monroe, LA.

Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. until service time Wednesday at Lea Joyner Church.

Mr. Grubbs went to be with the Lord on April 24, 2025, at the Oaks Nursing Home.

George was a member of Lea Joyner Methodist Church. He was a graduate of Northeast Louisiana University (ULM) with two B.S. degrees and a Master’s degree. He retired from KNOE Television and Radio. He loved being on the radio as a D.J.- his name was the Real Bob Steel. He was inducted into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame. George was very intelligent and technically adroit.

Mr. Grubbs was preceded in death by his parents, Rev. J. C. and Ruth Reagan Grubbs, brother and sister-in-law, Dr. Dwight Luther and Sylvia Kennedy Grubbs; sisters and brothers-in-law, Christine Grubbs Maxwell and Hop Maxwell of Baxter, TN and L. Maxine Grubbs McCaw and Rev. Larry McCaw of Charlotte, NC.

Survivors: his wife of 42 years, Mrs. Patricia Jean Watson Grubbs; children, Debbie Grubbs, Dianne Robinson (Jeff), Mary Taylor Montgomery, Andre’ Gaspard, David Grubbs Wolfe (Liliya) and Jason Grubbs; brothers, Dr. Jerry Grubbs (Jan) and Dr. Perry Grubbs (Sue); grandchildren, Stephen Wuichet, Caleb Wuichet, Aimee Boals, Ashlee Sullivan, Laura Bounds, Keleigh Wilson, Jaimie McCullough, Jaicie Gilley, Kannon Talbot, Kruse Talbot, Elle Margaret Montgomery, Seth Wolfe and Racquel Wolfe; and several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to give a special thanks to The Oaks, Ascend Hospice, and all EMS services for their care.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
