Gene R. Barker

Graveside memorial services for Gene R. Barker, 82, of Marion, LA, will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, October 22, 2018, at Greenwood Cemetery, Ruston, LA, with Mr. Don Delukie officiating.

Mr. Barker was born April 1, 1936, in Franklin, LA, and passed away Wednesday, October 17, 2018, at Union General Hospital in Farmerville. He was a Ouachita Parish High School graduate and attended ULM. Mr. Barker served in the United States Air Force from 1955 to 1959 as an Airman First Class. He was a retired District Manager and Field Representative for Ford Meter Box Company and was the Director and Manager for the City of Monroe's Purchasing Department and Utilities Commission for many years. Mr. Barker was past president of the Sertoma International Lou-Ark and past chair and director for the S/W section of the AWWA receiving numerous awards of recognition.

Mr. Barker was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur G. and Alice F. Barker.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Barbara T. Barker; children, Raymond and wife Kimberly, Bryan and Terri; grandchildren, Hope and husband Cody Moore, Ryan Barker and wife Mandy, and Jennifer Simms; great-grandchildren, Memphis, Brody, Jayce and Harper; brothers, Bobby and wife Katy, Tommy and wife Angie; and a host of nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
