Gene Arthur Waalk

Funeral services celebrating the life of Mr. Gene Arthur Waalk, 78, of Monroe, LA will be held at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday October 28, 2020 at Lea Joyner Memorial United Methodist Church in Monroe, LA with Rev. Ben McGehee and Rev. Betty Swanson officiating. Interment will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery in Monroe, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home in Monroe, LA.

Mr. Waalk passed into God’s care on October 24, 2020 at his residence after a brief illness.

Gene loved the outdoors spending time hunting and fishing with his family. He loved his children and especially his grandchildren. He was a active member of Lea Joyner Memorial United Methodist Church, where his was very involved in the youth activities, and was able to express love for his Lord and Savior.

Gene was a longtime employee of Holsum Bakery and in retirement enjoyed numerous part-time jobs especially helping at St. Frederick High School.

Survivors: his wife of 57 years, Mrs. Linda W. Waalk; 3 sons, Jay Waalk and wife, Jehane, Robert Waalk and wife, Jenny and Kevin Waalk; grandchildren, Jacob, Noah, Jaylie, Landon, Anderson, Greyson, Ellis and Caleb; 3 brothers, Keith Waalk (Linda), Guy Waalk (Susan), Randy Waalk (Lynn); 2 sisters, Ginger Cunningham and Sandy Waalk; numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be his grandsons and sons, Noah Waalk, Landon Waalk, Anderson Waalk, Greyson Waalk, Ellis Waalk, Caleb Vauthier, Jay Waalk, Robert Waalk, and Kevin Waalk. Honorary Pallbearers will his nephews.

Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until service time Wednesday at Lea Joyner Memorial United Methodist Church.

Memorials may be made to Lea Joyner Memorial United Methodist Church to the Youth Department.
