Funeral services for Gathel R. Nelson, “Ninnie,” 97, of Monroe, LA, will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday, January 31, 2017 in the Chapel at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Monroe, with Doyle Jinks and Bobby Stone officiating. Interment will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mrs. Nelson was preceded in death by her husband of 36 years, Meddie L. Nelson; son, Lavell Nelson; brothers, Terrel Ratcliff, Burl Ratcliff; and sisters, Dorothy Donnel and Christeen Auston.

Mrs. Nelson is survived by daughter, Patsy Nelson Estep and husband Donald; grandchildren, Randy Estep, David Estep and wife Carole, Stacy Nelson, Paula Harrel and husband Jeff, Susan Parks and husband Lucas; 9 great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.

Pallbearers will be Randy Estep, David Estep, Michael Estep, Stacy Nelson, Rodney Ratcliff, and J.D. Stephens.

Visitation will be 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Monday, January 30, 2017 at the funeral home.

The family wishes to extend their thanks to the staff at Avalon Nursing Home for the wonderful care given to our precious mother, grandmother, and great grandmother these past years.
