Gary Glendon Elmore, age sixty-nine, passed from this earthly life to the presence of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, July 27, 2016, at Providence Hospital in Mobile, Alabama. Gary was born April 14, 1947, in Port Hueneme, California, to William Carl and Hilda Marie (Crowell) Elmore. Following his fathers retirement from the U.S. Navy, the family settled in West Monroe, Louisiana.Active in the Boy Scouts of America, Gary achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. He graduated from Northeast Louisiana University (ULM) and Liberty Baptist TheologicalSeminary in Lynchburg, Virginia, with a Master of Divinity degree. Surrendering to Gods call on his life as a young man, Gary served as a missionary to the Navajo nation and pastored churches in Louisiana, Virginia, and Alabama. He loved studying, preaching, and teaching Gods word. Gary was active in the ministry of Meadowlake Baptist Church where he served as deacon and adult Sunday school teacher for over twenty years. Gary is preceded in death by his parents and brother Christopher Elmore. He is survived by his wife Barbara (Smith) Elmore, son Joshua Elmore (Jill), granddaughters Emily, Kate, and Anna, brothers Philip Elmore (Kaye) and Jody Elmore (Sherri), and sisters Kay Reeves and Candace Henderson.Services will be Sunday, July 31, 2016, at 3:00 P.M. at Meadowlake Baptist Church in Mobile, Alabama, preceded by visitation at 2:00 P.M. Internment is at Antioch Cemetery in West Monroe, Louisiana on Tuesday, August 2, 2016, at 11:30 A.M. with Rev. John Horner officiating. Visitation is at Mulhearn Funeral Home in West Monroe on Tuesday at 10:00 A.M.
