A memorial service in celebration of the life of Fred Key Golson, Jr. will be held at 1:30 PM Monday, June 1, 2009, at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church with Rev. J. Roddy Taylor officiating. Private family burial will be at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe.
Mr. Golson was born in Monroe, LA on July 17, 1930 and died on Friday, May 29, 2009. He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Fred K. Golson, Sr. and Ernestine Whittle Golson.
He is survived by his loving wife, Agnes Jones Golson; five sons and their wives, Dave and Ginga, Russell and Kelly, Larry and Brigitte, all of Houston, TX, Clint and Julie of Shreveport, LA, and Jeff and Kristy of Monroe, LA; and grandchildren, Kyle, Jamie, Ben, Parker, Lukas, Erik, Katy, Tucker, Karly, Madeline, Maxwell, and Eleanor. He is also survived by his twin sister, Elizabeth Ann Holt and husband Robert of Ft. Worth, TX.
Mr. Golson was a graduate of Louisiana Tech University. He was employed by Southwest Gas Producing Co. and was retired from Flav-O-Rich Dairy as division manager. He was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church and Downtown Monroe Lions Club.
His family, friends, and business associates were very meaningful to him and influential in his life. Pallbearers will be grandsons.
Visitation will be Sunday from 5:00 until 7:00 PM at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe.
