Funeral services celebrating the life of Franklin John “Johnny, Hollywood” Alford, Jr.,77, of West Monroe, LA will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at the Immanuel Worship and Fellowship Church, 3542 Hwy 557 West Monroe, LA, with Rev. Billy Taylor officiating. Interment will follow in the Kilpatrick Serenity Gardens in West Monroe, LA under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home West Monroe, LA.
Johnny was born in Columbia, LA on October 15, 1946, and completed his Journey to Heaven on October 10, 2024, at the St. Francis Medical Center in Monroe, LA surrounded by his family and friends. Johnny lived a life for God and his family. Nothing was ever more important than those. He served as a Deacon and Assistant Pastor at Immanuel Worship and Fellowship Church. Johnny enlisted in the United States Navy in 1964. In 1965, while still serving in active duty, Johnny married his wife and best friend, Judy whom he was married to for 59 years. Upon his return in 1966, he went to work at Brown Papermill (now Graphic Packaging), where he worked for 33 years until his retirement in 1992. He loved working on old cars and trucks. Johnny was a charter member of both the Ouachita Valley Street Rods and Northeast Louisiana Street Rod Association. When he wasn’t working on a project, building project, or searching for one, he would be on the front porch with Judy telling tales and making time drift by. He was an extremely talented artist and painter, and a true Phenom when it came to getting every ounce of performance and horsepower from a vehicle (all without a computer). Johnny is preceded in death by his parents, Franklin John Alford, Sr. and Olga Lucille Alford.
Survivors include his wife, Judy Alford of West Monroe, LA; sons, Scott Alford and wife, Andrea and Steve Alford and wife, Jennifer; grandchildren, Haley Grupe and husband, John, Aaron Alford, Haley and Cade Bentley, and Connor Brashier; great grandchildren, Emi Grupe, Ashlyn Burton, and Oakley Grupe; brother, Roger Alford and wife, Linda; sister, Ruby Burton and husband, Carl; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Roger Alford, Aaron Alford, Dusty Burton, Joe Stuart, Jason Rinaudo, and Caleb Rinaudo.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Monday, October 14, 2024 at Immanuel Worship and Fellowship.
Johnny never met a stranger and had very few enemies if any at all. He will be missed by so many people because he touched so many. He had more friends than Fire Ants.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks memorials be made to the Veteran’s Organization of your choice.
